Black Star Pastry + Campos

Another day I went to my favourite cafe, Black Star Pastry. I don't really come here often since the place is so small, always packed and don't have seats... but today I think its time to try their Lamb shank pie.

Arrived there around 10.30 am.

Lucky enough to get the seats.. Nut joined me and we both had the same pie.

Excited to try now !

The lamb was tender, first bite we were thinking that it could have been seasoned more.. but the more we ate, the more flavour came out. I am normally not a fan of lamb shank (prefer cutlets and loin) but this one satisfied me. Only one think I want it to be hotter (cuz i like piping hot filling..haha).

We had only pie and kept our caffeine consumption for Campos

again, I love Campos interior and atmosphere.

The best affogato $5.00

Nut's Latte, she loves it.

Sonoma Bakery Cafe

Thanks for NQN to remind me about Sonoma Bakery Cafe on Glebe st. I passed by that place about 2 weeks ago and it was in renovation.

After I read the review. I quickly walked there to have lunch (it is quite in my area). I would like to have Lamb pie like NQN but there were no more..so I tried beef pie instead...

Beef pie $6.50 and Skimmed Cappuccino $3.00

Unfortunately, beef one wasn’t good..I have to say there were big chunks of beef but tough and dry…the puff was soggy…hurr..maybe it is not my day…

But I have tried their olive sourdough at the italian festival…so good !! maybe next time i will try toasts there ^ ^

After lunch, I bought a book from one nice book shop on Glebe st. This book is about Le Cordon Bleu cuisine student in Paris...anyway, I havent even opened it yet ^O^

Harry's Cafe de Wheels

If you come to Australia, one food that you often find here is a meat pie...It was described by New South Wales Premier Bob Carr in 2003 as Australia's "national dish".

After I read many foodie blogs like Grab your fork and Not quite Nigella about 1 famous pie shop called Harry's Cafe de Wheels....looked at the photos they took...Oh my goodness ! Can't wait to try...So lucky they got the pie cart at Hay market where is easy to go...(but the most successful one is in Woolloomooloo)

Around 10.30 am..I was so hungry cuz had a small piece of bread and green tea at home for breakfast. Since that time most of the restaurant has not open yet, The pie was quickly comed up to my mind...Perfect time to try !

Curry Tiger : Curry meat pie with mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy ($5.30)

Of course, I definitely went for the Curry Tiger Pie (The famous one)..A curry pie is layered on top with a thick of mashed potato, a pillow of mushy peas and filled with a lake of gravy....and beautifully...it comes with a fork !

The pie is on the paper plate...I had to carefully carry it to the table...It's time !!! I digged it ...bite by bite...started from the gravy, the peas, the mashed potato...and finally.......

There were chunks of real hot tender beef underneath. The curry was quite spicy..and the taste is similar as Japanese curry in my idea..haha.. The pastry bottom was just a little gluey, but the top was flaky, the filling was meaty, the potato was creamy, peas and gravy... wow.....It is really good when you have this hot pie in the winter..Don't you think so?
