Happy (Birth) Day !

Another year passed.. Today is my second birthday here in Sydney. One thing I always tell myself is I am super lucky that people around me is all beautiful people. In my school and university, I have good friends who love to study and never to bad things. Since I graduated, my first (and only 1) work place ( if not include the part time job, WAT program in USA) is just like my second home. I worked there for 5 years and I do love them as my family.

When I came to Sydney, I have known nice people and can't be luckier to work at SWEETNESS and especially Bacco. I have never thought that my birthday this year would be this great. Started around first of a month, one old friend sent me 7 discs of songs from Thailand (I called it my first present of the year). Follow by last friday, I was so so touched by my chefs at Bacco, you can see how wonderful there are.

Today, my great friends, all people I have known in Sydney gave me a great time. P'Ta, Tan, Ping, June and I went to Hurricane's Grill for lunch as they know that I have to work early on Monday (cant have dinner cuz I need to sleep before 10 pm. lol)

Long time never been here, my first time was last year.

Ja, June and Ping.

Warm wholemeal bread with my favourite butter.

P'Ta was cutting and looking at another camera :P

Grilled Calamari $17.70 : Calamari, flash grilled with lemon butter served with rice.

We all prefer rice than calamari. Rice was well seasoned and just nice in texture. Calamari was not so bad though.

Caesar Salad $20.00 : Combination of cos lettuce, bacon, croutons & anchovies, tossed in our own Caesar dressing then topped with shaved parmigiano

I know you may think it is the boring salad.. but it was delicious and went well with ribs... that's why we keep ordering the same dish we normally like.

Full rack of Pork ribs $37.90

Huge tender and flavoursome ribs... We love it, just I thought they should give us more sauce :P

Full rack of Lamb ribs $37.90

First time I tried rack of lamb this style.. The sauce was very tasty. I was think it should be the same sauce as the pork one.. but I still think it is more rich in flavour... The lamb itself was quite nice just a little bit dry.

Before my fingers were full of sauce...haha

My lovely P'Ta... My life in Sydney might not be this happy without her.

Tan, Ja and Ta

I used the fork since this is the first photo of ribs I took, my fingers were still clean..haha

After we all were stuffed with food, we headed to another cafe in World square to have some coffee... and !!!

Tada !!!! My birthday cake from P'Ta

Tiramisu cake.. The mascarpone cheese flavoured baileys layered with sponge soaked with coffee syrup... Wow, P'Ta is not just an amateur anymore :D

Thanks everyone for my super Happy (Birth) Day !

Presents from Ping (Guy) , June and Ping

Last but not least, okey, I think I have to call my mum now ...hahahaha

** update**

Today Monday 19 Oct after work, around 3 pm. Seok called me and said that he was on the way to the city, wait for me... He remember my birthday T^T

Flourless Chocolate Torte

As you seen in my blog that last Saturday I met a couple of my friends, I planned to baked something for them....until I found this recipe from Pantip. It is the Flourless Chocolate Torte...contains lots of chocolate, butter, almond meal but rises by eggs...So it is not too heavy, light yet moist and rich enough for chocolate lover !

Flourless Chocolate Torte

(adapted from K'Look Pla, Pantip)

200 g Dark Chocolate (melted)

200 g Salted Butter (I used unsalted butter)

100 g Almond meal

3 tbsp (45 g) Cocoa powder

1/4 tsp Salt

1 tsp Vanilla

5 Yolks

4 Egg whites

150 g Caster sugar (I used 110 g)

1 tsp Kahlua ( I didn't use)

Icing sugar for dusting

Grease 2 8-inch springform pan, and dust with unsweetened cocoa; set aside and preheat the oven 165 - 170 C

1. Melt chocolate and butter together in bain marie (or i put in microwave for a couple mins) then add vanilla and kahlua.

2. Sift the almond meal, salt and cocoa powder together.

3. Beat yolks with 50 g of sugar with high speed for 5-6 mins until light and pale in colour then add chocolate mixture into yolks.

4. Fold in almond meal mixture and set a side,

5. Beat egg whites at high speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until sugar dissolves and stiff peaks form (not too hard). Fold one-third beaten egg white mixture into chocolate mixture; gently fold in remaining egg white mixture just until blended.

6. Spoon batter into prepared pan, spreading evenly.

7. Bake about 30 - 35 mins. Let stand in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes before removing sides of pan.

I baked in 1 8-inch springform panand in 7 muffin tins for 20 - 25 mins.

And one thing !! Do not getting nervous when you see the cake is getting collapse...it suppose to be like that :)

Reallly like this recipe...I will take it as one of my favourite recipe !

I have been tagged by dailydelicious to write this meme ….7 facts about myself :)

1. I love Food ! I think I started loving food since I was in secondary school. At that time I was always hungry so kept looking at the cooking books and restaurant review in magazines lol. I felt in love in cakes since I was in Year 1 in university, I bought an orange cake back home from the cafe called ''Cafe de Tu'' at Amarin building. It was an orange chiffon sandwiched an orange curd and masked with Italian meringue. After 1st bite, I was like '' Wowww.....'' After that I start trying cake and love it until now.

2. I used to be very healthy food conscious; love to eat Vitamins, eat lots of veggies. Everyday lunch at school, my lunch always contains veggies, tofu and egg. No oily food, not eat much fry stuff. Now? getting older lol, I love to eat pork belly, marbling meat and pastries.

3. Before, I have never thought that I will love baking cuz it seems so girly .. haha..yeah, so many girls like to bake cakes, cookies. I don't wanna follow that trend...but because of the first fact I mentioned above. I have started to love eating cakes but I always found it is too sweet for my liking. Finally one day I thought that '' Ok, since I have so many cooking book, why don't we try bake one?'' Then my first cake was the ''Moist Devil's food cake'' from Martha stewart, my first idol.

4. I am a very indecisive person. I don't know why and I hate it, even sometimes for the easy things; like buying some cakes, I still take so long time to make decision and if I need to be rush, I always choose the wrong thing . Sometimes I just need someone to decide for me *sigh*

5. I am a day dreamer....always think but no action ! I need to work about this asap !

6. I am not good at Narration at all, neither in English nor even Thai, neither in speaking or writing...Sometimes I talk to someone, I forgot my main idea..haha.... Also my English is still not so good, as you can see in my blog. I always use the same words, same style of writing...but I think it is very good to pratice...At least I can practise my writing often (and thanks for you guys' blogs...so I can pratice reading aswell)

7. I just can't stop smiling when...
.... there is the beautiful dessert in front of me.
.... I see people love and enjoy eat food that I cook or bake.
.... good food go into my mouth.
.... I know the one I love happy.

Oh...my god ! I think I write too much until I think no one gonna read it ^ ^'')

Thanks !

Today is my birthday !!!! Staying far away from my family and friends....Alone in Sydney, learning many different cultures from many different people... I personally am quite used to this kind of thing....but this time in Sydney, I am quite lonely sometimes....

I do have very great friends here but most of them stay outside of the city...Only 3, Seok, Su hee and Clair stay here but they are all busy about working and studying... My housemates are also busy working (my fault that won't find the job :P)

Lucky that this week I have a chance to go out with friends everyday...Thursday - Sunday....especially it is ''this week'' , so I am very happy ! Thursday, Friday I met Heidi, Stella and Kimmy and will see them again on Sunday. And because Seok know that today, Saturday, is my birthday and I am quite lonely recently, he kindly took me to Paddington market and spent his time with me before he went to work....normally he is very busy. Also this morning Soo jin called me for saying happy birthday. Kiyomi & Yumiko, friends from Japan, sent me an email, many good friends wishes me in facebook and my colleagues in Thailand called me to say happy birthday ! Oh...also Deryk came to Sydney spending time with me for one week at the first of this month...another best present for me....

Thanks for ur guys to make me know that I am loved !

And this is my birthday present from Seok...Yeah, like Heidi's...I am so touch !
