Boon Chocolate

Again, we went to the place since March, the time that Boon seems to be famous among every blogs. Of couse I wouldn't miss it :) About to finish school, Nicole raised up an idea about going somewhere after class. I told her about Boon and she said she tried it (it is near her house). So there were 3 of us: Billy, Nicole and me.

The real place is different from what I thought when seeing in other blogs.. don't know how different..just different..haha

When you go inside, a big long table of chocolate.. my face was smiling.

The packaging is cute.

Don't you think so?

We went up stair, it was a bit dark and got only a couple sitting at that time.

It took us awhile reading menu and decided what we should get.

We ordered 2 kinds of hot chocolate drink. Nicole and I got the same thing and Billy got the different one. Sorry it was too long till I couldn't remember which one tasted like. Only remember that one has a stronger cocao taste and another one got a hint of flower.

Grenada (South America) Chocolate origin espresso $7.50 - served with a Boon praline and chocolate

Madagasca (West Africa) Chocolate origin espresso $7.50 - served with a Boon praline and chocolate mousse

Happy with all pretty desserts !

We had some desserts to share. Chef told us that the Petit Tarte au Chocolat basically is the rich petite chocolate tart. Sounds good, we ordered it.

Petit Tarte au Chocolat (Orange Blossom) $9.00

It is incredibly tiny ! We all were laughing when it came. It was about 1 bite size.

We devided it into three super small pieces. Yumm.. It tasted great, rich, chocolaty and the crust was so short. (but it was very pricey, $9.00 compare with the size) Anyway, I think the chocolate tart recipe from LCB is still not inferior.

The 3 small moulded chocolate came in a set of chocolate drinks.

Lien, white chocolate ganache infused with anise and vanilla beans

SAIGON, milk chocolate ganache infused with fresh lemongrass

Balsamico, an adventurous blend of strawberry and balsamic vinegar

We ordered another dish !

Belgian waffles with vanilla bean ice cream and Boon chocolate sauce $10.50

Money shot !

It was good, waffle was warm and delicious with the ice cream and high quality of chocolate sauce. (but I love Max Brenner's Waffle ^o^)

Can you see the tart in my hands? It was small I told you.

That day I thought we were sick of chocolate..hahaha

Kreativ Blogger Award

It is an honour for me to recieve the 'Kreativ Blogger Award' from Jenny at Panda & Cakes. Thanks Jenny !

The Kreativ Blogger Award comes with some rules, 7 things about me (I hope it's interesting ^ ^"):

1. I love coffee. I like it strong and I love a smooth and velvety of milk froth (must be skim) that's why I always order cappuccino, sometimes can be changed to flatwhite and mocha ( I don't mind black coffee aswell) preferably accompanied by good baked stuffs.

2. I love food, any kinds or any nationality is fine for me. I love to try things and can eat anything, just that there are some preferences or some that I don't really like.

3. I love desserts, but I don't like it too sweet.. haha.. when I bake cakes or anything for myself, always reduce lots of sugar until sometimes it is not sweet at all.. lol.

4. Now I feel I am alcoholic.. Don't get me wrong, I am not good at drinking at all, a glass of wine or cocktail is just enough for me and make me tipsy. But I like..hahahaha.. Especially when it comes down to chocolate and cakes, I definitely pick the alcoholic one.

5. I am very surprised of myself, never thought that I can blog this far cuz I am not good at narrative essay at all (even in Thai, my language).. first when I knew about blogs..wow, seems so amazing. Moreover, when I can find the great friendship in here... It surely is one of the things I am proud of myself.

6. Australia was the country that never been in my choices of studying ! Not because it's not good but it's too near Thailand...lol. But finally I came here and never regret.

7. I would love to work with food. I still unsure how I will start, opening the cafe, selling it online, working in food magazine, working at cooking school, or something else. *This one is exactly the same as Jenny but it's so true for me too*

Oh...at first I thought 7 things are too many.. I just wanna say more.
Unlucky, I just have a symptom of reflux oesophagitis (said doctor) about almost 2 weeks. It is something about acid from the stomach into the food pipe. I feel pain at the stomach up to the chest all the time. Now I can't eat (shouldn't eat) oily, spicy and sour stuffs, chocolate, coffee, tea, nuts, eggs, tomatoes, garlic, onion. All that things make the symptom worse. This is so cruel for the food lover, I know you guys understand. T_T but I hope I am getting better soon then I can continue my eating life again (haha of course I have to be careful).

Just to let you guys please be aways and take care of yourself. Don't eat and sleep straight away ( I don't normally do that but still got it)

Anyway, let's back to the award, here are the 7 blogs that I would like to award:
2. Erique Fat Owl at Eat like a cow
3. Heidi at Heidi loves food.
5. Pook at Dailydelicious
6. Koy at Bake-Aholic

The Kreativ Blogger award comes with the following rules:

1. You must thank the person who has given you the award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link the person who has nominated you for the award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 other Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on which of the blogs to let them know they have been nominated.
Again, thanks Jenny !

Teppanyaki @ Merivale Winter Feasts

After read about Teppanyaki from Pigged-out at night, I quickly texted Ayla asking whether she is interested and lucky she said yes. I even dreamed about it that night.. haha.. So there were 4 of us, Ayla, Gladys, Hema and me.

It was our first time we went into Ivy, the dark area is quite confusing. (maybe only for us?) But we finally can find the restaurant :)

Inside is very beautiful, classy with a dim mood lighting, after I was very pleased by the decoration, I was then worried how my picture will turn out.. (haha... just like every food bloggers )

The Winter Feasts deal consists of 3 courses (plus glass of wine or James Squire beer) for $35.

We were lucky sitting next to the preparation area. (I don't know its good seats or not but I like it cuz we can see the cooking by chefs).

They served us the Miso Soup Tofu, wakame and shallots. Good that the miso soup should be.

Snapper Yukke : Snapper sashimi served in a crisp lettuce cup with spicy miso, nori seaweed & lotus root

I really like this, the snapper was very fresh and well seasoned. First time I had the crisp lotus root, thumbs up.

Wagyu Penny Burger (2 pieces)
Mini wagyu beef burgers with cucumber, tomato and spicy house sauce

Ayla ordered this, I tried a bit. The meat was surprisingly salty. It tasted nice, smoky smell and good with the soft and warm bun.. But again, it was way too salty.

King Fish Shabu Shabu: Slices of King Fish, cooked in the hot dashi broth (poured at table), with fresh wakame, enoki mushrooms and shallots

Ayla doesn't eat anything raw and she ordered this.. haha. We didn't know that it came raw, we thought it will came with the shabu pot. (Obviously can see from the menu but because I was only focusing on beef and pork dish, didn't even look at the fish dish but maybe Ayla also forgot to read carefully.)

but we forced her to tried and said that it was cooked..haha

Free Range Pork Belly : Twice cooked pork belly with shaved fennel, apple and caramelised black vinegar

Hema and I ordered the pork. I got this dish before I came here.. It looks really divine in the blog. Unfortunately, my dish was not as good as I expected, not very tender but not bad.

Wagyu Striploin 100gr : Oakleigh Ranch marble score 5+ sirloin with wok tossed shiitake, buckwheat & soybean

Gladys's dish.. AMAZING ! Now I understand when people said the waygu beef is melt in your mouth.. It was exactly true ! I was so regret ordering pork.. I don't mind come again to have this delicious beef. The veggies and the sauce were also very tasty.

Gladys and Hema.

Some sauvignon blanc.. couldn't catch the name. It was very beautiful white wine. I was really enjoy it.

The dessert, the menu said its for sharing. We were 4 and allowed to choose only 2 dishes T_T

Banana Tempura with Sake Chocolate fondu

The batter was very crisp and light. We were curious about sake chocolate sauce, couldn't taste sake but felt like cointreau instead .. Its very nice by the way. About banana, of course, I never like banana in Australia, not sweet and floury flavour.

Black Sesame Panacotta with a Strawberry Coulis

Very interesting taste. I personally like black sesame so I like it. Anyway, we had to share the glass. What if 2 gentlemen come together, they have to share this o_O?

Happy happy meal.
I think we were a bit tipsy..haha

Assiette

This post is very not-up-to-date . We went to Assiette since May ^ ^'' for the friday lunch. 3 courses for $30 such an amazing deal for us.

I normally walked pass by this restaurant many times when I was going to Chef warehouse.

Lemon Lime Bitter $4.50

Butter, I pretty like the style.

Billy and ?

We also love the silverware here.

Haha..

Mini Sourdough, warm and nice.

Sweetcorn veloute with basil oil and spanner crab (Kimmy & Ja's)

This dish was surprisingly good for me. I am not a big fan of corn but this one was so creamy, velvety sweet. The small pieces of crab gave it a texture while the basil oil gave the herby aroma.

Roasted carrot tortellini with a pinenut beurre noisette (Billy & Stella's)

It looked so beautiful ! I tried a bit of this and its good, love the puree underneath, not sure it was pumpkin? (but it wasn't mentioned on the name)

Our main, there were beef and fish dishes and all of us chosed the same dish.haha

Beef bourguignong with garlic pomme puree and bone marrow (all of us)

I love how it looked ! Just right amount, not too big or too small. The first spoon into my mouth, I felt it was a bit bland and I said ''umm.. pretty normal, nothing speacial". But when I keep eating, the more I eat, the more flavour I can taste. I think thats why chef didn't overseason it. The mash was very creamy.

It was my first time to see the bone marrow was this pink. (but Stell said it is normally pink, is it?). I love bone marrow but maybe it was still not cooked enough for my liking, the texture was just too weird for me. Oh, I love the mushroom here, so juicy.

Come to desserts!

Vanilla pannacotta with apple puree and macerated prunes (Kimmy & Stella's)

"It is ok, not as good as Jonah's at Whale beach." said Kimmy. I felt the apple puree tasted like pear.. haha. Grape was wonderful.

Chocolate brownie with macademia parline ice cream (Ja & Billy's)

The presentation was beautiful. The brownie was cakey style and a bit dry for my liking. ( I prefer its more fudgy), but still good, eating with delicious parline ice cream made it better.

Kimmy & Ja & Stella (sorry, billy lol)
