Taste of Shanghai

I was so happy when first saw Taste of Shanghai open in the city (this post is way behind). Reading other blogs about Shanghai night, Taste of Shanghai and New Shanghai makes me mouthwatery. Since all of them is not in the town, I always keep telling me, next time -_-''.

Taste of Shanghai is in World Square, P'Ta and I went there for dinner and we wait about 30 mins.

I like the number :)

Braised pork belly and preserved veggetable $18.80

Quite oily but it cant be wrong with pork belly. The taste was not as I expect but not bad, the veggies gave a salty and sour taste to make up the dish.

Chilli beef in wok $18.8

The dish is good with rice for 2 hungry people who were waiting for the table for 30 mins..haha

Shanghai pan fried pork buns (8 pieces) $9.80

This dish is the one I was dreaming about...

Oh, my goodness, even other bloggers said The bun in Shanghai night (or New Shanghai I can't remember) is a lot better than the one in here, I was already over the moon since I first bited this :D

Happy happy happy.

We were really full actually ( we took away all 3 dishes, couldn't finish.. I had 4 of pork buns...hahahahaha) But we still ordered dessert.

Punpkin cake $8.80

It was ok, a bit oily (or we were too full to enjoy it)

Luxe Espresso

New cafe opened in New town.. how can i miss it? The cafe is called "Luxe espresso"

I went there a bit early... about 4 tables at that time.

The tart looks like the one from Bourke street bakery, so I eagerly tried the rhubarb tart.

came with my skimmed cappuccino, not bad.

The tart was yummy, a bit flakier than Bourke street bakery's and the fangipane got some almond chunks in it. (I didn't mean which one is better, both are good in its own)

The menu.

The breakfast & lunch menu on the board looks interesting, wait to come again with more people.

It is the next door of Campos

Kazbah II

I am super behind, nowdays very lazy to update the blog -_-". Anyway, since we had such a wonderful dinner at Kazbah, we keen to try thier famous breakfast.

Virgin Mary ($10.50), Lemon, pineapple and mint juice ($6.50), hot mocha ($4.50), Bloody Mary ($10.50).

P'Ta, I think she is really pretty today.

Tan found his Bloody Mary was too spicy then he ordered another lemonade. I think the waiter didn't charge for his bloody mary.. so nice.

Pretty busy.

Breakfast Tagine $18 : Lamb Mince, Sucuk, Spinach, Roast Capsicum, Roast Tamato, Caramelized Onion, Feta, Eggs, Turkish Toast, Lebanese Bread

A must have dish. It was perfect, nothing to complain. I love the flavour of the lamb mince and its spices, very very flavourful. The roasted veggies were soft and juicy..

Doesn't it look so great?

French Toast, Bacon, Glazed Baby Figs, Double Cream, Apple Cinnamon Syrup $16.50.

Another yummy dish. There was a really thick brioche soaked in the syrup and topped with very creamy double cream (as thick so I thought it was mascarpone), and huge bacons. Eating with figs even made it better. However, I have no idea who can finish this dish alone.

Feta Potato Cake, Smoked Salmon, Creme Fraiche, Red Wine Onion Marmalade $19.50

Tan said the potato cake tasted funny. I thought it was ok and quite an interesting dish.. but its not a dish I would order again. I like the salmon though.

N'Ping is ready to attack the food.

And of course, we planned to have dessert breakfast !

Chocolate and Raspberry Pancake, Butterscotch Sauce, Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream $18

Compared with my face...

This is very different from normal pancake we normally have. It is kinda baked biscuit for me. I guess they bake it in the pan... First bite it was weird but the following bites... I like ! The edge was crisp and moist in the middle. My faverite part were the edge and chocolate & raspberry..haha.

Super super full, we couldn't finish pancake though.

Happy happy breakfast :D

Left : Bellini - Champange and French white peach puree $20 / Champange - Laxcaus $15

Right : Bellini $20 & Kir Royale - Champagne, Créme de Cassis $14

Tan & Ta

Nice baguette !

Crabe : Blue-swimmer crab and tomato consomme terrine, caramelized onion, tomato and thyme $24

Look pretty but its not really my cup of tea.

Soufflé au Fromage: Twice baked gruyere and goat's cheese soufflé $20

It was my first time to have cheese souffle, very light and creamy (however I think its too much for me to have it by my own but Ping said she can do it) . The most favourite of the table.

Assiette de charcuterie - terrine with pistachios, rabbit rillette, bone marrow, saucisson sec, jamon and condiments $48

Oh well, I love Bone marrow

Roasted Lamb and spring vegetables $35

Nicely done but nothing extraordinary.

Canard : Braised duck legs, baby carrots and prunes $33

A hint of chinese five spices... delicious.

Truffle potato puree $15

OMG, lucky we ordered this as the waiter recommended... I am normally not a big fan of truffle but because of this dish, now I like truffle... The best !

Haha..so blur

Muscat de Frontignan, Languedoc Avarus 2006 & Sauternes, Bordeaux Chateau Roumieu-Lacoste''Cuvee Leon"2005

Mousse Au Chocolat : Chocolate mousse, biscuit, truffle, macaroon, sorbet $13

At first we didn't expect to order this dish since we thought its gonna be boring but the "handsome" waiter said it is his favourite... hahaha.... Finally, it was on our table... not too sweet and so many textures to play with... good to trust him :P

Blancmange : Blancmange, raspberry cream, almond milk sorbet $14

Pretty dish but nothing excited. the filling of the macaroon was buttercream which was not nice -_-''

Vanilla Créme Brulée $12
French restaurant, so we couldn't miss Créme Brulée ....

Simple yet nice.. yum !

The atmosphere is not too formal and comfy.. make us feel relax and happy.
