Brunch with Nut (Roxanne, 2042 Cafe & Deli)

My foodie friend, Nut moved from Melbourne to Sydney. This made me excited about having another friend to join my food journey. First week she arrived, we decided to try some cafes near our area. The first one is Roxanne in Glebe.

The decoration is quite formal yet cozy.

My skinny cappuccino was burn, too hot and bitter.

Poached eggs and pesto crostini : 2 sliced of pesto topped ciabatta and crispy bacon with hollandaise sauce $13

We shared the dish, the eggs were cooked nicely but the ciabatta was too a bit hard, its yummy though.

Another week, we went to the new cafe where both of us just read about from SMH in Newtown, 242 Cafe & Deli.

The cafe is quite big compared to others, make it look a bit empty since there were only 3 tables at that time. The decoration is home-feeling.

Skinny Cappuccino & Latte $3.50

My cappuccino was good then I tried Nut's Latte and it was very nice, the interesting is the taste is totally different.

Corn fritter with bacon, avocado and green tamato relish $12.90

It was my first time try corn fritter so I had no idea what the good one suppost to be. This version was a bit pancake-like. Not too bad but I found the relish was a bit too sweet for my liking.

Massive table in the middle of the cafe.

Then I took Nut to my favourite cafe, Black star pastry and again, there was no seats :P We took away chocolate eclair.

Pretty looking

The chocolate pastry cream was very smooth, rich and creamy. The shell was a little bit too hard.

Spice I am II

First time I came with my Korean friend, Ricky and his gf, I didn't really impressed much cuz one dish we ordered was not good. But second time and this time, I LOVE Spice I am !

The restaurant open for dinner at 5.45 pm. and no booking policy. That's why we had to come quite early and it was already packed when we arrived.

BYO wine from Mcguigan, Moscato, nice !

Red curry with roasted duck : medium mild curry with Thai eggplant $25.90

Everyone who come to Spice I am have to order this. I personally don't really order red curry in Thailand but here, one of the best red duck curry I had. And here, they served it very fancy in the coconut which is good since you can scrap some soft flesh coconut to eat.

Basil crispy pork belly : stir fried with chilli, Thai holy basil topped with crispy holy basil $17.90

OMG, this is the BEST ! The pork belly was so crispy and fatty. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I wanna eat this dish everyday~~~~

Nam Khao Tod : crispy rice salad with Thai pork sausages, chilli powder and ground peanut $17.90

Another great dish, it was so crunchy and tasty... very very spicy even for us, Thais. So if you guys are not a big fan of chilli, tell them for less spicy :)

Fried rice with crab meat $17.90

Simple yet awesome. The rice had a wok smell and not oily. My mum would love it.

4 of us, P'Ta, Tan, Ping and I were really enjoy Spice I am, really really nice !

Baffi & Mo Espresso

First I read about Baffi & Mo in The Unbearable Lightness of being hungry, I quickly sent the link to my friend telling her I wanna go this place... but since at that time I have never been to Redfern yet so I am not really keen to go there -_-''. After than I found it again in Simon Site, I was like " wow..ok, this time I must go to try their hash"

Here we come, we chose this place for Nicole's fairwell.

Elynn & Nicole, my lovely housemates.

It was a very sunny day, we arrived there around 11.00 am. The cafe was quite packed, lucky enough we got the table outside. They also served varieties of muffins, biscuits and brownies but this time we want only big breakfast..hehe

Nicole went for iced coffee and she likes it. Erynne tried her first affogato, it was good just too little ice cream, if she try the one in Campos, she must love it. My cappuccino came very late since they forgot -_-''.

Eggs Benedict with double smoked ham and hollandaise $13 with side of potato hash $3

Eynne is so cute !

Unfortunately, the eggs were overcooked but we forgave them since the potato hash was so yummy, crisp and salty, just like the fried pototo snack we have in Thailand..haha. The hollandaise also was good, ham was delicious... Everyone loves the dish (even overcooked eggs were still good..haha)

Ricotta french toast with fresh figs and honey $12

I wanted to order French toast with passionfruit curd, lime, ricott, strawberry but unlucky they changed the menu. It was alright, this french toast was lovely. (but I still wanna try the passionfruit one T_T)

Nicole, I miss u ~~~~~~~~~~

Lucky enough nowdays I go to school where is near Baffi & Mo so I go there every thursday (2 times already)..hehe
