Mamak

A mamak stall is a type of food establishment which serves mamak food. In Malaysia, the term mamak refers to Indian Muslims, who generally own and operate them. Although traditionally operated from roadside stalls, some modern mamak stall operators have expanded their businesses into restaurant or cafe-type establishments. Mamak stalls tend to be popular among Malaysian youths as hang out spots, due to cheap food and beverages being served as well as being open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In Haymarket, Sydney, there is the restaurant called Mamak....of course it is Malaysian...Have heard about good reputation of Mamak for long time...but also heard someone said that it used to be good...So let's prove !

Menu...

Modern style of Mamak ...

Fork and spoon...haha who don't know?

Deryk had Limau ais $3.50 : Fresh lime with syrup on ice. and I had Teh 'O' ais limau $3.50 : Iced tea with a splash of lime. Both are served in the traditional mamak mug.

My dish - Nasik lemak $6.50 with curry chicken +$3.00 : Fragrant coconut rice accompanied by an ensemble of sambal, peanuts, crispy anchovies, cucumber and hard-boiled egg.

Very nice...I felt in love to this dish...The rice was very good coconut aroma and soft but not too wet. Sambal was very spicy which I like...(but even it was so good, I couldn't finish it...too big ^ ^'')

Chicken was tender and tasty... but if they give me more curry...will be perfect ! hehe...

Deryk's : Maggi goreng $9.50 : A popular mee goreng variation using Maggi noodles. I tried it...so yummy and spicy....It was very ''spicy''...Deryk said it is as good as the one in Malaysia...yeah, it is that good !

Another dish : Roti bawang $6.00 : Roti with lashing of sweet red onions served with two curry dips and spicy sambal sauce...

This roti was normal for me...not outstanding as 2 above dishes...

Deryk was taking the photos of the food we were satisfied....

Happy happy happy meal :D

I definitely come back again !
